Meet Vancouver Registered Massage Therapist: Yung C. Chen, BComm, MSc, RMT

With a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Canada and a Master of Science degree in the United States, Yung decided to pursue a career in the health care profession.  His education background has afforded him a scientific foundation for further studies in human anatomy, kinesiology and health and clinical sciences.  He completed the 3000-hours program at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2008.

Yung has experiences working in the BC Women’s Hospital with prenatal patients, Vancouver General Hospital with burn and trauma patients, GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre for acquired brain injuries and spinal cord injuries, Friends For Life Society for people with life threatening illness.

Yung is committed to helping patients to improve their health condition and quality of life.  He is dedicated to continuing his education to better meet his patients’ needs.  He is fluent in providing patient care in Mandarin and English.  Yung loves travelling and cycling.

Yung works at the clinic on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Vancouver massage therapy RMT Edris Safi

Meet Vancouver Registered Massage Therapist: Edris Safi, BSc (Biochem), RMT

Edris is extremely passionate about massage therapy and truly loves his work. He is enthusiastic about helping people and feels privileged that he is able to introduce the benefits of massage to a wide range of patients.  Edris is a graduate of West Coast College of Massage Therapy where his graduation research study, which focused on treatment of peroneal tendinopathy, won the runner up award at the clinical case report competition from the Massage Therapists’ Association of British Columbia.  He has experience treating patients with chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, overuse conditions, fibromyalgia, headaches as well as orthopedic and sport related injuries.  In 2013, Edris had the opportunity to be part of the massage team at the Ride to Conquer Cancer, Workout to Conquer Cancer, and Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

Edris also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Simon Fraser University with a major in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.  He prides himself on staying up-to-date with the latest scientific research, and hopes to bridge the gap between evidence based science and holistic therapy in his practice.   He utilizes a variety of modalities during treatments, including myofascial release, trigger point therapy, Swedish massage, joint mobilizations, active/passive stretching and deep tissue therapy.

In his spare time, Edris enjoys travelling, fishing and camping in remote areas of our province.

Meet Vancouver Registered Massage Therapist: Dawn Sparks, RMT

Dawn became an RMT in 1996, graduating from Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in its inaugural class.

At that time, she began working towards certification in the Dr. Vodder Method of Manual Lymph Drainage and Combined Decongestive Therapy, achieving full certification in 2000.

Dawn has a great interest in helping people work towards managing and resolving pain, injury, and stress, and achieving greater ease of movement and general well-being.

Dawn is an avid runner but also enjoys just relaxing with her cat or volunteering at her local animal shelter walking dogs.

Meet Vancouver Physiotherapist: Winnie Chan,
BScPT, CGIMS, RPT

Winnie graduated from McGill University in 1999.  She has considerable experience in out-patient orthopedic physical therapy working with an assortment of private, MSP, ICBC and WorkSafe BC clients.  Her treatments implement manual therapy along with exercise and education.  She is a certified Gunn IMS (Intra-muscular stimulation) practitioner and is working towards an advanced manual therapy diploma.  She has also completed training in Clinical Pilates, a program for physical therapists accredited by the Australian Physical Therapy Association.  She is fluent in English, Cantonese and has a workable knowledge of Mandarin.

In her spare time she enjoys travelling, cooking and jewelry making.

Winnie works Mondays to Fridays (half-day on Thursdays) at the clinic.

Vancouver physiotherapist Louise Kerridge-Judd

Meet Vancouver Physiotherapist: Louise Kerridge-Judd, BSc PT, CGIMS, CAFCI, RPT

Louise is a Registered Physiotherapist trained with world-renowned pain specialist Dr. Chan Gunn (MD), and indigenous medicine doctors of Tibetan, Indonesian and Chinese medicine systems.  She provides specialty treatment services for complex pain and trauma with over 20 years of clinical experience in private practice.

Exploring body, breath and consciousness Louise realized her dream of unifying Eastern and Western treatment approaches into an effective healing model, Subtle Body Medicine, based on the bodies’  natural reflex systems.  The method uncovers the intimate connection between pain and consciousness pathways in the body.

She is a Division Level 3 Orthopaedic and Manipulative Therapist (2003), Gunn IMS practitioner (2006), and a graduate of the Acupuncture Foundation of  Canada Institute (2004).  Louise trained with the London School of Osteopathy (2000-2004) specializing in craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation, and soft bone adjustment.  With in-depth training in Ati yoga teachings and spinal alignment, she focuses healing to aid the individual in cultivating a daily self-care practise.

Louise is the founder of Vancouver Healing Centre, an artisan medicine co-op, located in the heart of Kitsilano, Banyen Books heritage building.  In her present practice she offers specialty treatments and training for practitioners to embody presence, wisdom, and compassion on the healing path.

Meet Vancouver Physiotherapist: Jason Tong, MPT, BSc Kin, RPT

Jason graduated from the Master of Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Kinesiology programs at the University of British Columbia.  He is motivated to help his clients become engaged in their rehabilitation process and achieve their personal goals, whether that is returning to work/sports or optimizing physical functions.  His philosophy is to create an individualized treatment program for his clients by using manual techniques, exercise prescription, intramuscular stimulation (IMS), education and injury prevention.

Being an avid learner, Jason has advanced training in vestibular rehabilitation, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, functional dry needling and manual therapy.  Jason has taken post-graduate courses relating to mobilizations with movement, soft tissue release and has completed the Orthopedic Manual and Manipulative Therapy Level 1 and 2 (upper quadrant), with plans on continuing the orthopedic levels in the future.  Jason is trained in Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and is a national certified badminton coach.  During his spare time, he enjoys trail running, skiing, playing volleyball, hiking and badminton.

Meet Vancouver Physiotherapist: Janet Leung, Registered BScPT, CMedAc, RPT

Janet opened Cross Roads Physiotherapy and Massage Therapy in April of 2009. Her vision was to create a multi-disciplinary and supportive setting where healthcare practitioners can build their practice and where clients can access a variety of services with ease.

She graduated from Queen’s University in 1999 where she was the Medallist in her graduating class. She has extensive experience working in public and private practice including St. Paul’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital. Completing her Certificate in Medical Acupuncture from the University of Alberta in 2003, she uses acupuncture as an adjunctive therapy. With a special interest in women’s health issues, Janet has post-graduate training and experience to treat pelvic floor dysfunction including urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic pain. She has Pelvic Floor Level 1 and Levels 2A and 2B training with the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, is a certified Fit-To-Deliver instructor and a Pfilates-certified trainer. She is fluent in English, Cantonese and basic Mandarin.

In her spare time, she enjoys running, pilates, listening to podcasts and travelling with her husband and adult daughters.
